If the roots are OK it'll grow new stems from lower down than the wilted bits - if those wilted tips don't perk up in a couple of weeks, you can trim them off. If it does recover, it'll be happier in the ground. They want to grow into big shrubs.

I will be putting it in the ground soon. Should I wait till it perks up? And if it needs trimming do I cut back everything above the brown part of the stem, which seems to be the most damaged part?
I think I would just leave it in a sheltered spot for a while longer. The top growth that's already damaged will give it a bit of protection if there's another cold snap (which is pretty likely - it's not even March yet).

If you cannot plant them out, do re-pot them into a larger container. The issue with small pots, the plant's roots will feel the extremes even more. Fatsia Japonica do droop and often look terrible in cold weather, especially when young. I agree, leave them for now and hopefully they will recover.
Mine look a bit like this when sulking after a cold night or two. It will recover I reckon. I'd leave in the pot for now as you can protect from further cold nights for a bit.

It's really not improving, looking worse if anything! Would repotting it in some fresh compost help?
