I think someone mentioned above that the damage was caused by water getting into the brickwork, so l think jet washing it would cause possibly more damage.
It's your decision as to what to do, but if you really don't like it and want to brighten it up, l think painting it would be a safer thing to do  :)
  • I wouldn’t paint the brickwork without repairing it as I suggested (or rendering if you prefer) first ... the paint won’t stop the bricks deteriorating and the pains with come away in patches as the bricks crumble.

  • When you say repair,is that putting the sealant on all thr bricks?
    What process should I adopt
I am worried about render cracking!
    and the cost involved

Hate to disagree but once painted it will need repainting possibly every year or 2 if we have bad winters.
Paint won't stop water ingress and if the frost blows a brick then you will have a mottled wall.
I wouldn't jet wash as aging brick looks more interesting but I see you like the modern look though.
To me the wall needs plants  and trellis

.... get a local jobbing builder to replace any badly spalled bricks and rake out the joints and repoint. ...
If you want to paint it, the above work needs doing first, then treat the whole wall with Synthaprufe before painting.

Any thoughts on covering wall with pallet wood or something similar...

Won’t that just create homes for slugs and snails?
And it’ll need painting just as often as brickwork.

Go on, at least find a local jobbing builder to give you a quote to replace spalled bricks, rake out loose joints and repoint .., then you’ve got the info to help you make a decision.

  • I think I will do just that because rendering will probabky cause the same issues
It's so hard to find brickies/builders to do small jobs like this at a reasonable price
  • Do you know the Nextdoor.com website? It’s a great place to find reliable local tradesmen with recommendations.
