Rosa Christopher
in Plants
My grandson, Christopher, died suddenly recently aged 15 years. There is a Rose called Christopher which I would dearly like to have. According to the RHS plant finder the only nursery stocking this rose is Springreach Nursery. I have contacted them by email without success so will telephone. However, if anyone has any information about another nursery who may stock this rose I would be delighted to hear of it.
Thanks

Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.
Many thanks for your prompt reply. I know about the Rose Chris but it is a climber and is not really suitable. However, I will keep it in mind if I cannot obtain Christopher.

I followed the RHS link and had a look at the roses sold by Springreach Nursery, they only appear to sell Rosa Chris. I can't find a rose called Christopher anywhere - sorry.
The closest I could fine is rosa Christopher Marlowe-

..hello.. I'm so sorry about your loss, always sad to hear..
..I fear you may not be able to obtain the rose you are looking for as I suspect it's long since been discontinued in the UK, but as you have found, it was bred by the Cockers of Aberdeenshire, so it might be worth contacting them to see if they still have a plant in their gardens from which they could propagate for you, but in my experience, I would not be too hopeful of that..
..Roses like these unfortunately go out of commerce, never to be seen again... I have checked with the British Bred Rose collections held by Robert Mattock at Evenley Wood and Lord Heseltine's garden at Thenford, as they both share the collection, but 'Christopher' is not amongst them... so I can only advise that, if Cockers cannot help, then maybe look elsewhere for another type of plant that might bear the name..
..very best wishes...

...the breeder, Ronnie Rawlins, is very good, I have tried several of his roses, and have them in my garden...
Many thanks for taking the time to reply to my post. This is very helpful but I will still phone Cockers to ask for their advice. If not there is still the climber, Chris. I can find a space for this in my garden but it would not be suitable for my son and I would have liked to have been able to give one to his parents.
