Still didn't cut the gaura back enough this year Delta Sarah completely recovered from gall mite This Japanese anemone doesn't even get a drink so it's not up to world domination . too busy staying alive Things growing under an acer - outer edges
@B3 I have Delta Sarah but the flowers are too heavy for it. Do you support yours?
@Ffoxglove that dreaming swan is beautiful - it's on my list!
@AnniD your aster and helianthus (is that helianthus?) are wonderful. Mine's all so sparse - first year. I'm hoping that in the next year or three they will more closely resemble yours!
Dahlia mignon. Grown from seed. I won't grow it again next year but I am still appreciating it this year.
Phlox Monica Lynden-Bell
Rudbeckia, phlox and rhodochiton, all grown from seed this year. Thriving on neglect.
Kalimeris incisa - first year so I'm hoping it will fill out a big next year. Perhaps I didn't pinch it out enough?
Sedum Brilliant
Aster monch - keep getting confused between this and the Kalimeris. Hoping both bush out next year!
Dahlia Teesbroke Audrey - a real trooper!
Verbena Endurascape has flowered tirelessly all summer long. Will try to dig some up to overwinter them.
Just getting going - left it a bit late...
Second year begonia
Astrantia claret
Salvia Joy - only surviving cutting after I lost the main plant to the winter and all other cuttings to slugs.
@Camelliad, they are Helianthus, the majority are "Lemon Queen". The taller one (also with a photo of a single flower) was sold to me as "Monarch", but l don't think it is as l believe that has double flowers.
@Camelliad. Went down the garden for a look. Both container and in the ground ones are self -supporting. Is yours getting enough light? If not, the stems might get long and weak
@AnniD thank you - I think I'm going to make some room in the borders and try to track down the tall one! Very inspiring.
@B3 thank you so much for looking and good guess. It's in full shade and dry shade at that. I like it though so I'll take some cuttings and see where else it might be happy.
A few recent photos. One of the cosmos plants I’ve grown from seed has just started flowering, after it spent most of the summer growing to about 6 ft. The flower is among some elder leaves.
