    I think up to three is pretty standard for most UK birds. It feels like a hugely long season for the poor parents.

    I lie in the bath and hear the endless cheaping. Demanding work for half the year.

    I guess it's a good sign that there is enough biomass locally to keep all the nests going.  My garden is still a mass of aphids and sawfly etc.

    @BenCotto. Beautiful. Never seen anything like that before. I think you could open your garden to the public and I would be first in the queue!

    Old seeds are always worth a try. You can always re-use the compost if you get nothing 
    In London. Keen but lazy.

    Have done that before @B3 and when the used compost is finished with put it on the garden, that's how I ended up with tomatoes in the flower bed!😆
