  • I was disappointed with this weeks winning choice. Manoj had a better design in my opinion, coupled with it was 99% identical to my design I described to my husband before it was shown to the couple.

Pips final design looked odd with random bits of chunky wood by the top patio just standing there. I get it was done to tie in the pergola to the archway but it looked out of place. The geese ornaments were a massive letdown as well and will be hidden by the plants soon enough. Also one was facing the wrong way which really irked me 😡

I thought the geese were NAFF.

The geese were too small for the size of the garden. It would have been nice if they went right across the rear border, and for that budget you'd think they could've afforded that!
We have the same ones, but not on a spike, they're attached to an otherwise ugly wall and they do look good in the right place. They're from an etsy store. We have geese flying over to a reservoir all the time so we like the link and we have all sorts of copper structures.

I keep watching the show but I moan about it all the way through. It's too much talk and not enough seeing the process. I don't know why they add another garden 35 minutes in, it takes away the momentum of the larger garden.

It's to show you don't need a mega budget, just some ingenuity and planning.  I like it.

I didn't think those geese were great in that setting either.  Wrong scale.

Enjoyed the programme, although I expected more impressive planting for the big budgets. Most of the people are after an outdoor room rather than a garden I felt.

The geese were ok-ish but needed to be larger. I liked the grasses to blur the view idea. I had tall verbena outside my kitchen window once and looking through them was really lovely.

I was really surprised that the designers didn't frame the view with some small trees and when they mentioned a lack of privacy I laughed - it was a large field for goodness sake with a farmhouse in the far distance.

  • With such a healthy budget they could have had some lovely ironmongery commissioned instead of all that naff half timber half scaffold pole look which was as ugly and unfinished looking as sin. Why would anyone think that a generic "industrial" look would fit a boring 60-70s house in a non descript suburban street facing an open field?
The Glasgow garden was nice, considering what it looked like at the start, but did miss not having the brick floor layed in a herringbone pattern. But it clearly inspired them to continue the work and use the best of the plot.

I liked the second episode more than the first - watched it with the Mrs which is rare for her to watch anything with me, so it gets applause for that alone.

We both took the mickey when the couple claimed their garden “was a nightmare”.  It absolutely wasn’t. It was just tired and boring.  The first design just looked like an upgraded version of the existing design to us, we both preferred the second design.

Industrial isn’t something I would go for, but I did like the pergola painted rust - I have some corten steel fire bowls, a whole pergola would be a fortune.

The rear border looked great, a good combination of plants giving a wispy frame to the view.

The small space renovation was much better, again £4K seemed like a lot for what was achieved but it was a big change and if you like shabby chic you’d love it.

  • What does everyone think of last nights episode?

The £8k space actually looked good afterwards with my only grumble being having two lots of stones. Id have just had the one myself as id have likes more grass.

The £66k garden I hated from the VR representation but it actually turned out OK. I didn't like the oath but in a couple of years it will hopefully have grown into itself and look amazing.

I wasn't so keen on the paths being what I assume to be mud or the waste of water for the stream. I hope its on a massive loop or they aren't on a meter.
