Slopping garden, no privacy, over looked

  • I really like all Loxley's ideas above, and it reminds me of how I tend to want to create complete privacy when I move to a new place, then I relax into wanting some private spaces within the garden. One idea is to have one or two small trees in pots for a while, so you can spend some time adjusting where you really want them, before putting them in the ground.

Thank you so much Loxley 😃Seeing how you have added the trees to my photo has shown me that I shouldn’t and don’t need to over do it. I really needed and appreciate your advice as I couldn’t see past surrounding us with trees. Yes the seating area will be where I have taken this photo from.

Thank you very much for all your advice and idea’s Keenongreen!

I will definitely look into a pergola for the far right corner, this would really help! We are going to double the fence so this will make the fence completely private.

I appreciate you advising me about the retaining wall problems that occur as I wasn’t aware. I just assumed they would be ok for many many years, I am very glad I put this post up.

Unfortunately we only get the sun at the bottom of our garden so this is where we would want a seating area to be.

    Hi Lizzie27!

This is our back garden 😊
Yes I agree strategically placed trees is the answer along with decking and a pergola I think.

I am not being judgemental only curious as to why you bought this house. I assume the inside overcomes the outside?

    Hi K67,

Our house is a new build, bought off plan and reserved 9 months before it was built. We sat down with the site manager prior to reserving and we were advised that this plot was flat from what he could tell from the plan. We were not aware of this issue.

Well.. at least you should have good drainage!  A nice boarder of flowers and shrubs will hide the worse of the slope against the fence side, and you'll need to water less as the rain runs off the lawn in that direction.  😁

There are some beautiful small trees available with blossom and autumn foliage, and you have the added bonus of encouraging birds into the garden. If noise is an issue a little water feature with a solar fountain is an idea to consider. Hope you can learn to love your outside space.
