Interesting how the less we worry about covid, the more we worry about Brexit. A difficult balance for the spinners. Physics was never my strong point😐

Scientists!  Some seem as stupid as politicians!

News today that they think they've seen signs that indicate octopus dreaming in their sleep.  Why would they think that any creature that has a cognitive brain doesn't dream?

Possibly more to the point is (a) why would a scientist think it's worth researching and (b) why would said scientist think anybody else cared?

Firstly @KT53 they were observing and surprised rather than actively researching.

Secondly, octopus are know to have the most complex brains in the invertebrate world and they probably want to train them as secret weapons.

Thirdly there's that clever one found in the filming of the Blue Planet that hoodwinked a shark and won.

Fourthly there's Paul, the one who predicted world cup football wins a while ago.

Fifthly, there's a female in Denmark who solves puzzles for food rewards.

I think octopus are fascinating - apart from the football aspect.

Research on animals and plants has enabled us to find out so much about ourselves and has enabled us to produce a whole array of medicines.

Octopuses are supposed to have 9 brains. I wonder if they all dream?
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Do they all sleep at the same time? How can it tell which brain is experiencing reality?

What I love is how they pretend to be a rock while they are asleep.
