When I go to buy shampoos here it certainly seems nobody has normal hair. No problem finding it for fine, dry, splitting, chemical damaged, frizzy, dull, greasy. Nothing for ordinary healthy hair.

That's because people use so many chemicals on their hair and body now that there's nothing healthy left about it. It's a great marketing ploy. Sell people some fancy soap that dries their skin out and then you get to sell them the moisturiser to fix the damage as well.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
Depends on the scraps. We very rarely have leftovers but when, for example, I've roasted a leg of lamb and am stripping the bone for meat for a shepherd's pie I do give the fatty bits to the dogs and they get the bacon rind too.
