My New Year's Day count was almost the same as my Christmas Day one, with the only change being that a longer frost saw off the Persicaria and the Ricinus (as the latter was putting on new leaves and flowering until Christmas I had started to wonder whether it might actually go through the winter!). It also saw off the Rudbeckia and Calendula flowers that I photographed on Christmas Day, though there are new buds still. And I had forgotten to include the Choisya ternata and Viburnum tinus on Christmas Day. The Pelargonium is in a cold frame, but looking so cheerful I thought I'd include it anyway. The Iris foetidissima berries and the Helleborus buds are also bending the rules a bit, but allowed this year I think
