Windows 7 was stopped being supported by Microsoft last January...so currently you are using a computer without any security patches which should be treated as an unsafe device. A terrible piece of advice from a professional @Poly-anthus if you don't like Windows 10 maybe worth looking into a Chromebook if you want simplicity and mainly work online.
Hi @Lizzie27 we had the self same problem, our tech guy had to remove windows 10 and go back to Windows 9. Our computer is ancient and gives us hell and recently bought a Chromebook, it's not a proper laptop but does everything that we need and dead easy to use

I would love to meet that tech guy.
Whatever you do, do not roll back to Windows 7 (or 9). 7 is completely unpatched for any new bugs or exploits, and a 9x variant hasn’t existed in this millennium.
I switched to Mac and Linux. Linux isn’t user friendly, and I still use a Windows machine for testing, but with all the glossy features turned off.
I’d recommend considering Mac for your next computer when budget allows, they are very user friendly, and the initial outlay saves the headaches that usually occur with Windows machines are year 2/3. I still have MacBooks that are 7 years old running as mini servers.
@BrixtonGardener the tech guy (who's a friend) just returned the computer to what system it was running before windows 10, I presumed that was 9 as the next was 10 (can you see how simplified my brain is).
It has worked happily since then, mind for all I know the KGB could be watching my every move 🤣🤣🤣. Chromebooks suit our needs as we don't use it for work in anyway and allows our kids to do all the online schoolwork on Google classroom with real ease.
I couldn't possibly comment on a MacBook, the only Mac's 🍔🍔 I know about are not as big as promised and certainly in no way full filling 🤣🤣🤣
I did look into uninstalling that particular update but chickened out in the end - afraid I would make things worse. It does appear to be slowly correcting other features though which is slightly odd, so I'll just stick with it for now. Our desktop is really old so we will have to grit our teeth and replace it soon. Thanks for all the advice, much appreciated.
