They were thawed just enough to cut in half so no juice run off  .sprinkled a bit of sugar and salt. No oil
I'd say it might not work for bigger tomatoes unless you did it overnight or something.

Just had a look in the oven. They seem to be holding their shape and drying a bit. The foil underneath looks pretty clean too. They've been in for about 4 hours now.
You have to keep eating one to check how they are doing  :) .

Cooling tray is better than baking sheet as it exposes both top and bottom.

My other one is bananas. They need to be rolled in icing sugar or cornflour to stop them sticking together in the jar.

Onions work really really well. Ham is good but got nibbled in minutes.

Orange segments surprisingly good - it goes slightly crusty then you get an intense flavour shock from the concentrated juice inside.

My model is one of these

I paid £39 as it was a half-priced second, though I can't find the cosmetic fault. They are being a touch naughty as the price has gone up a little before the reduction, bit £59 is a decent price. At £39 it will be low enough to be worth the punt even if I only use it three or four times a year.

I would suggest playing around for a few runs to see if it will be worth it for you.

I am trying to use them as accents and highlights for soups and salads, amongst others.

Also very good if eg a whole bunch of nanas or a bag of leeks get away from you by date. Reduces waste.

The other thing is to try and fill it each time, as they run for some time.

You need a decently sharp knife (= can cut a slightly squishy tomato with no pressure other than the weight of the knife imo).

I have some green tomatoes in the freezer may give this a go, what temperature were they? About 4 hours?

That's covered on the other thread.

Suggest 70C about 7-10 hours or when you like them.

Warming drawers are good as they have better temp control within a narrower range.

Give it a go. And try some sliced onion.
