You’re right about my name! It’s just a silly joke using the Italian for well done/well cooked.
I have no inside knowledge; I simply tried a few judicious Google image searches hoping to find something close to what Monty was wearing. More googling showed that Swedish stocked waistcoat was probably made in the UK, in rural Suffolk.
Unfortunately I could not see the jacket in question on their website but you could always email them and ask.
I notice Lavenham work collaboratively with Labour and Wait. I frequently covet their products but can rarely justify to myself (or head office!) the price
My excuse is that I am really a Norfolk lass who crossed to the other side. I DO know about the fishermen’s smocks made in and sold from Gt Yarmouth for donkey’s years (great for gardening and other outdoor work) A lovely hark back to the days of sail making.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Topbird ... I used to know Lavenham as the makers of horse rugs .... then they began to sell jackets gilets etc primarily through horsey and similar outlets ... do you know Gallyons in Norwich? ... they’ve branched out into more stylish clothing more recently.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Regarding sail making, we’ve got a circus that overwinters in the village. It dates back to the Napoleonic Wars when the great, great ... grandfather retired from the Navy and set up a chandlers business. From selling sailcloth they moved into making tents and marquees, and that transformed into performing in them. So the circus was born.
One member of the circus is a Mongolian trapeze artist and I often exchange plants and tips with her. I challenge anyone on this forum to have a more exotic recipient of their surplus plants.
