  • Thanks LB I’m looking forward to the weekend, I bet Ante is pleased too. It’s very chilly tonight, we had a hard frost last night so everything was white over this morning. Thank goodness they don’t get any smaller than that, those buttons are so sweet the holes must be minuscule 🧐
Oh Rosie how disappointing to remember there’s ironing to be done, I’d love some furry boots my feet are frozen 🥶

Afternoon all. Been busy with seasonal stuff but cards are all written and the kitchen is all steamed up from cooking the Christmas pud. It's been a horrid day here - thick, thick fog - I only know what the end of the garden looks like because I walked down to empty the vac into the compost bin.

A quick skim read back and what dreadful news for Yvie's family. My thoughts and best wishes are with you all.

LB - sorry you're still in stricter lockdown from next week. We're in tier 2 which at least means we can go out for a meal for OH's birthday next month if we want to.
Those wee buttons are very cute - hope you found a fine needle and some good specs!

    Chive - Doors to manual😁

Ooops - just found this draft - written about 2hrs ago😀

Tee hee T'Bird, better late than never. Bit like my 'good night' post the other today that ended up being a 'good morning' post instead. T'Bird, do you put grated orange peel and juice in you Christmas pud? I was looking at recipes and they all seemed to mention oranges. I might have to put them on the shopping list. Sis usually makes the puddings and I do the cakes but things have been very disjointed this year so I thought I'd have a bash. Never made a pudding before so I think its time I learned.

Lily it looks as though the Burton group is at risk . As you say it’s so sad that so many people will lose their jobs . LB my grandma used to make our Christmas puddings . I remember visiting her when she was cooking them . The house was full of a delicious smell and thick steam .

@Ladybird4 - yes I change the fruit ratios on mine so there’s quite a bit of citrus (particularly orange) and extra cherries - cut into quarters. I also put extra almonds in - very coarsely chopped so you know when you get a bit!

Don’t understand why my house doesn’t smell of pudding - must be too well wrapped up!

Thanks for that T'Bird. I quite happily adapt and adjust the fruits in my cakes so I'm happy to do that with the pudding too. I've got almonds I can chop so its just the citrus fruits I'll put on the shopping list.

SGL and Ruby, my brother-in-law is an insolvency practitioner and he goes into big retail outlets to document any remaining assets etc. He has never been out of work and last week (and possibly still) he was working on the closure of a famous DIY (not B&Q) store in Preston. He lives in Co Durham but travels all over the UK with his job.
