  • I like parsnips. I can't wait until I pull my first ones just before Xmas, as the Xmas dinner test.

I went for a walk around the block and there, amongst the fallen leaves, was an abandoned woolly hat. We are not exactly on a well-trodden route to number 10.

Love parsnips, don't like forsythia but I love a well tended ceanothus.  Good job we are all different.  Glad to see the back of Cummings. Don't think his departure will make any difference one way or another.  No 10 is disaster zone with or without him.

  • Boris's girlfriend has more political savvy in her little finger than Dom has in his whole body ... he just doesn't get the bigger picture and doesn't understand how party politics and government works ...he is arrogant and thinks it's all about manipulation and mendacity ... Carrie could see that the continued U turns and last minute announcements  were giving the impression of No 10 being a shambles on Boris's watch and unless he started to take his own MPs with him he'd be out on his ear inside 12 months, with either Gove or Sunak taking over .... and that would be the end of any influence she might have to achieve her own ambitions .... she's managed to make Boris realise that he has to be in charge and win the hearts and minds of his own MPs, not ostracise them.

Now let's see if Boris can really cope with the responsibilities of government ... I'm not holding my breath ...

  • Well they said it was DC who was too centrist so if they hand track & trace to the local Public Health & it improves they can blame him for the current shambles. Glad he's gone.

I get the impression that Johnson is  lazy ****** with a very short attention span.
He's probably bored rigid with this game and will be happy to find a use for his talents elsewhere. Maybe then he could join forces with the other has been from  across the pond. What larks!

Legislature to stop fake, anti-vaccine stories on-line? Really? What next, stop people putting fake NHS stories on sides of buses? Where does legislature like that stop? Who decides what is fake? I'm not sure legislature like that is a good idea.

Various surveys in UK, USA and France over the past few months have shown that between 5 and 40% of the population would refuse a Covid vaccine. The refusal is significantly stoked by outrageous, unsubstantiated theories promoted online. A common one, for example, is the belief that a vaccine will be a way of injecting microchips in our bodies so our minds will be controlled by that evil despot Bill Gates.

In these desperate times I have no problem with temporary measures prohibiting the spread of such misinformation that will threaten herd immunity and leave us in a continued vulnerable state. The dissemination of the views of that discredited charlatan Andrew Wakefield concerning the MMR vaccine led to many deaths, three for example in North Dublin after the measles outbreak in the year 2000

I don't believe the scare stories but I am a bit concerned that corners might have been cut in the race to be first with the vaccine. I would probably have it if it's offered to me.

I note the qualifying "probably".  ;)
