I used to think the NHS was underfunded. This is outrageous

  • The NHS has been underfunded for years, so they've always had to go abroad and shop around for the cheapest rather than the most reliable and work on a 'just in time' basis rather than hold stocks ... then when the pandemic struck and the whole world wanted vast amounts of PPE the NHS was at the mercy of unprincipled scammers and charlatans.

I've been wrestling with technology for the last hour or so - not my strong point. I recently bought a smartphone because I didn't want to be left behind but I'm struggling with it. it doesn't help that we have such a lousy phone signal in this area.
I used to be a software engineer, and I sometimes struggle with my smartphone.
  • Talking of technology ... a friend on the foodie forum just posted this ...

"Just heard on the news about a lorry being hijacked for 48 pallets of apple products, I was actually wondering when things like apple juice and cider vinegar became so sought after, then I realised - Apple with a capital A!"

Several of us admitted we had to do a 'double take' and even my OH looked puzzled and said that perhaps the thieves thought the lorry had something more valuable on board ... I'm glad it's not just me 🤣

  • I know I'm beginning to sound like a cracked record but why do Diwali fireworks have to be SO loud.  We are enduring another week plus of house shaking window rattling high explosives

It’s annoying when you type apple and the default on the computer is with a capital A.

Government departments waste money on a daily basis.  Don't you remember the contract the Government gave one company for ferry capacity when the original Brexit date was approaching?  The company didn't even have any ferries but had to be paid when the Government cancelled the contract - as did all the other ferry companies involved.

Did you know there's such a thing as a sugar mite? I didn't until today😝?

I'm absolutely scrupulous with my flour, but I didn't realise you had to check sugar to see if it was moving too😡
I threw it away. I wouldn't mind but I'd done a lockdown bored witless cupboard clear out and washdown only last week! At least it was easy now to check other stuff.
Apparently they can't dig so you don't get them in flour - only things with an open structure.
I don't fancy the little wholemeal loaf that I made this morning now. The birds can have it tomorrow😡
