Quince Questions

  • I have a large quince, inherited when I moved in. As @Topbird says, mine is also very prone to problems. The crop is very variable too, I had lots of fruit this and last year, but little the year before. I think they like dry, hot summers and wet weather increases the disease chances.

    However I'm not that bothered, I don't really like quince, they're like tasteless granite pears to me even when cooked! I'd get rid of the tree except it's in a useful screening position and it would take years to grow another tree to replace it.
