Yes- we used to get them quite often in the garden round the corner from this one, but never in huge numbers. There's loads around, but they clearly get enough to eat in the surrounding fields and lanes. There was a disease going around at some point too which affected them - maybe finches in general? We used to get loads of chaffinches, but hardly any now.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Enjoyed your video @fidgetbones - thanks In case anyone wonders - some of the posts may look a bit odd on this thread. It's because a certain poster has had theirs removed. I'll say no more.

I have passed on my unliked wild bird seed and am going to my local GC where they sell a selection of bird food loose. You just choose what you want, put scoops into provided bags, have it wieghed and that is it. You can have hulled or unhulled sunflower seed etc. Suet pellets, robin feed, millet, parrot food, freeze dried meal worms etc. I have just put out the first of this winters fat balls. It was like Picadilly Circus out there, a whole variety of tits, sparrows and the resident robins. Lovely.
