Morning Rosie, hope you slept well. The gas work has finished at our home thankfully, but they are carrying on up the road so the barriers and holes will remain until completion then the team that fills in will be along.Â
I’m back from the opticians, dad came with me for a walk, and my new glasses are lovely.  I bought the frames separately on line and then having them reglazed.  Chive thank you, yes I slept well.  I hope you get the hole filled very soon.  Hazel I’m pleased the odour is reducing, I hope it resolves the issue.  Try going on line to see if there is a more detailed remedy for you.
Afternoon - another damp and chilly day but it’s  forecast to be dry over the weekend so may be able to get out and do some more tidying.Â
Chive - yes my plans to meet friends for lunch are going ahead for tomorrow. We’re meeting at quite a nice pub which is about an hour’s drive for both of us (from opposite directions!). Looking forward to it.Â
I’m quite enjoying the autumnal colours in the border nearest the kitchen at the moment:
That aconitum is such a lovely rich blue & the amelanchier is a good colour at the moment. Can’t see it too well in that pic but the crab apple Evereste is absolutely laden with fruit. Hope the blackbirds find it before the pigeons do....
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Afternoon all, have been out in the garden most of the morning cutting back my Claire Austin roses. I still have one of the obelisks to untangle before I can replace them with the new rose arch. Hubby will help with that hopefully over the weekend. There is so much to do in the garden. Everything is behind as I have been neglecting it over the last few weeks. Lots of Dahlias are still flowering and the Acers are looking lovely.
Glad you had another walk with your Dad Rosie and you sound very happy with your new glasses. It has been very cold here but dry - whoopy doo!
T'Bird, I'm glad that you can get out to meet up with your friends in Norfolk and your border is absolutely beautiful. Is the bright pink flower, slightly to the right of the picture a clematis? What a lovely pop of colour with the intense blue of the Monkshood.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Evening everyone, Rosie You sound really pleased with your new glasses that’s good, nice that your dad came for the walk too, Hazel good idea to keep these precious photos in a tin that should preserve them, but I’m afraid I can’t help with the BOS there must be some advice available somewhere, T’bird I’m pleased your plans can go ahead it will be nice to get out and socialise. Your border looks beautiful, what a lovely view to enjoy from your kitchen window, Yvie That’s quite a tricky job you’ve undertaken there, roses fight back all the while you’re trying to help them don’t they, LB Your Acer is stunning it’s like sunshine it’s so bright & cheery to see, absolutely lovely! I had a tidy in the garage this afternoon, not a place I usually interfere with, but it was driving me mad all the clutter that had accumulated I felt compelled to intervene. A thankless task that one. Have a good evening.Â
LB, beautiful acer. My favorite colour in the garden. I see that you have the same weather condition as me.
Chive, good luck with garage. I know from my own experience that it's Sisyphus job.
I turn heating on again. It pouring whole day and I got wet twice. Done SM shopping and I'm good at least one week. I have some more preparation for tomorrow and then I can rest.
