What is this fungus / mold stuff?
I was clearing out some dead bedding from my sleeper raised bed and discovered this white mold clinging to the wood just at soil level. It scrapes off easily. Is this something I should be worried about in terms of it having an effect on the soil or future planting? The sleepers are about three years old and are treated against rot, and there is no sign of the wood deteriorating. Many thanks.

Even if they dry out completely for years, as soon as they get wet again they're off searching for food within hours.
Some remain tiny, others can grow very big and weigh up to 50lbs
The entire structure is effectively a single cell and the entire structure can move around in search of food. They live off other fungi, bacteria and yeasts.
They can learn from each other, they can remember where they have been and they can make decisions - yet they have no brain.
They are fascinating organisms
