@Camelliad - envious? I wouldn't be. Many of the members here have had cosmos running all summer. Mine went in very late - end of July. They ware planted in rich soil so become more like trees about now. I only got to plant Purity this year and very much wish I had done others.
But it's always a joy at this time of year to have a full of sunflowers, dahlias and cosmos, esp as the rest of the garden subsides. They will go to the frosts, which will hopefully be late, here in London. I cut back and ill dahlia in August and it is now starting to flower all over again, causing me to appreciate it all over again.
