Is this a weed?

Growing in a flower pot but it’s tall and thin. Can anyone ID it?

Looks like an echinops to me.
  • Not an echinops ... but I’m not sure what it is. 🤔

  • It looks like a scabious.
  • I was wondering that @pitter-patter ... but aren’t the flowers usually a sort of cushion rather than a round globe?  But the leaves could be right for scabious .. I need a coffee to switch my brain on ...

  • I was wondering if it’s horseweed?
If it’s a flower I’ll continue watering it and see.

  • @Dovefromabove It’s true. I just thought that the flower isn’t facing upwards, but it’s facing us as it were.

I'd say scabious too. I think it's just that the buds are very tight.
    Foliage looks right  :)
The common one as opposed to a cultivated variety perhaps.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • I’ve not grown scabious for years but I think you do @Fairygirl 😊

Not for a long time either @Dovefromabove!
I fancy that dark one though, but I'd need to overwinter it here.  :)

I have similar growing in my pond, Devils Bit Scabious, wait until the flowers open and we could have another look.
