The curry plants usually need actual contact to get the smell.
Unless it's a massive bunch of them, I'm not sure how strongly it would smell, although I have quite a poor sense of smell, so perhaps others would smell it more readily.

Curry plant smells quite strong when the sun shines on it, releasing aromatic oils. Perhaps it's the lack of Scottish sunshine that causes FG not to be able to smell it? ;P

It's true @Loxley - people often bang on about how strong the smell of x,y or z is, and even when I've had the same plant, it's never had that strong a scent!

I do have quite a poor sense of smell as well though  ;)

I get this now and then in odd places. It can be in the middle of the woods with no one around and suddenly there's the smell of curry plant. It must be plant based but I've never found the source. Unless a fox is dragging an old takeaway around I suppose.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Not at Hardwick Hall herb garden you don't  .

I'm possibly planning one for by my front gate so that people walking past feel peckish.
