Morning Ruby and Chive. Cat food is top of my shopping list Ruby.
Oh no Chive!!!! I am not ready for that yet! I've got another stack of birthday and anniversary cards to buy today. Trying to remember the various ages of the small people requires consultation with calendars and a second opinion from handy brother. Have a nice visit with your Mum Chive.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Morning - a rather foggy start to the day here but forecast to clear and become quite warm.😎
SGL - belated Happy Birthday to you - sounds like a lovely weekend🎂🎂🎉🎉🍾
Biglad - sorry to hear about your friend. Brings you up short when you start to lose friends.
LB - loving the squidgy pictures. I was in the Tufty club and I’ve loved red squirrels ever since - always get very excited when I see one.
Sorry you had problems with your car insurance - we had exactly the same issue with the motorhome. I thought insurers etc had access to DVLA data but they don’t. The different companies just buy in the database of registration numbers at varying intervals so new numbers aren’t on a database which is (eg) 3 months old.
Last year I had to go through the palaver of manually entering full details (make, model, engine etc etc) of the vehicle for each of insurance, UK breakdown, Dartford Crossing, Caravan Club, Euro breakdown and ferry crossings. Nearly drove me to distraction!
Chive - our landing is still waiting for a coat when you’re ready...😆😉
Hello to everyone else.👋
SM beckons - best get on.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Morning everyone Oh goodness, festive stuff in the shops! By the looks of things on the news, it could be cancelled anyway 😥 Looks quite chilly out there this morning, very grey and autumnal. Thought we were supposed to have a few more days of sunshine. Time for another cup of tea, see you later, have a lovely day everyone.
Thanks for the good wishes. Losing people who've been a part of your life at various times is a strange thing isn't it? I hadn't seen him for years and may well have never seen him again as he lived in Australia but for a few years we played in the same football teams on a Saturday, trained midweek and often went out as a group on a Saturday night. It just makes me desperately sad for his parents, wife and little girl, who will all have a massive hole in their daily lives. Selfishly, I will probably be more impacted by the suicide of my dentist this summer as he was still a regular part of my life. He's been the only dentist to treat me in my adult life (his dad saw to my childhood years!) so I'd see him 3-4 times a year, every year. He was more my age and we had common interests so had a good chat on every visit. Extremely vulgar to assign any kind of rank on deaths but I guess I'm a bit analytical that way.
My mum was killed in a RTA in the summer of 1997. Shortly afterwards, a rather more famous woman was killed in an RTA. Although it was desperately tragic, I couldn't understand the level of grief being shown by some people towards somebody they'd never met, didn't know and had no direct impact on their lives.
Anyway, now I've got that off my chest and revealed a somewhat 'cold' side of my character, I'm going to make the most of the back end of this current spell of good weather. Might not get much more this side of 2021
@biglad - not cold at all - I think most of us understand exactly what you're saying.
I loved both my parents very much indeed but I have always felt slightly guilty that it was the death of my beloved grandpa that left me totally grief stricken and in floods of tears for days. Maybe because he was just fun-loving grandpa who spoiled me rotten and rarely chastised me. I never had to prove myself to him. Parents have a different role.
Totally agree about the 'famous lady' killed in a RTA in 1997. I was greatly shocked and saddened by her death - but I didn't know her so I didn't feel the need to journey to London with a bunch of flowers and join in the mass wailings and weepings.
IMO it was a week of complete emotional incontinence and we've never fully recovered from it.
Sorry if that sounds too harsh but I think it was probably totally confusing and overwhelming for her boys - who should have been allowed to grieve quietly and privately instead of being subjected to the circus surrounding her death.

Sorry Topbird, you weren't there when I posted earlier, thank you. Agree with others Biglad, not cold at all. Grief affects everyone in many different ways. There is no right or wrong way. Sorry to hear about your mum dying in such a tragic way and also your dentist friend. Big hugs Biglad.
The sun has suddenly appeared, so I've put some wet cloth things outside. Having a lazy morning and then we're going for a slow walk after lunch. I wonder what the new rules will be too Hazel, I do hope the festive season isn't cancelled completely, really want to see our poppets.....at least for awhile 🤞🤞
