I think I prefer the osmanthus, but either one looks like a keeper.
Shall I move it now or in the spring? I'll plant it in the same aspect as it seems happy enough.

You could probably do it now @B3. Might be a humongous, colossal beast by spring  :D
Worth keeping until you see how it turns out. If it's bogging, you can give it the chop  ;)

I just had a look at the Olearias @Joyce Goldenlily. I think I've looked at them before and dismissed them, because they could be iffy hardiness wise here, whereas Osmanthus are much tougher.

I think I'll put it in a pot for now and wait to see what I've got.
Ive spent a lot if effort this year getting rid of the humongous. I don't want to nurture another😕

  • Hi, I think this is Quercus ilex. Eventually it’ll become a huge evergreen tree.

😧 the leaves are similar. Definitely quarantine in a pot😊 @n.trewin

Ah - they're quite common in your neck of the woods aren't they @B3 ? I don't think they're very common up here due to climate.
    Good shout @n.trewin  :)

Definitely a humongous beast then.... :D

I've never noticed one locally. We have some pretty industrious squirrels about, though.
    Definitely one for the pot!

  • I get these popping up quite regularly in my garden, couldn’t work out where they were coming from until I spotted a jay hiding acorns!
