It would grow very well alongside H. Jobert. It's a lovely plant too  :)

Whirlwind is generally a bit smaller, so if you can position it to make the best of that, it would probably be ideal  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • I’ve been building up the courage to ask my neighbour for a cutting! I think you’ve dissuaded me!! I’ve had enough of a battle with alchemilla mollis to bring another super spreader in to our little garden 🙈

Would JA do well in a large pot or would it be pointless?

The white ones really are fine.  :)
I don't personally think they're great in pots, but if you were worried about them having thoughts of world domination, you could plant them in a border in a big pot with the base removed.

Oddly, bees in my garden prefer the pink ones and ignore the white ones.
East Dorset, new (to me) rather neglected garden.

    Bees like pink.
  • Mine are bonkers - completely taken over - we dig them out each year and they just return, they've even grown up and through a wall! - going to try copious amounts of resolver as a last resort - didn't want to but left no option really

I think that the pink ones should come with a 'weed' warning on the plant label. There was no such warning on the label when I bought 'September Charm' from my local big garden centre chain, and it's now it's clear that I'm not the only one with a garden that has been taken over by it.
  • Aw shucks I've just bought the white Honorine Jobert. Shall I confine it to a pot?

The whites are much better behaved than the pinks. Especially in the right conditions.
If you read back a bit, you'll see the posts with general info.  :)

The thing is @Andyman - they aren't invasive in every garden. Location and soil are big factors.  :)

  • Must depend on climate and soil.  I got some pink ones from a friend a good few years ago and so far they are well behaved and look great at this time of the year.  North of Scotland and horrible heavy clay soil.  Some white ones which I bought a couple of years ago are not doing well though - leave shrivelling up and only had a couple of flowers on them this year.
