You are a romantic, @pundoc. A lot of the things he didn't do my first OH (I was 20 when I met him) did do. But then he died. It is a more peaceful relationship with 2nd OH but he is just what I need at this time in my life. I haven't heard that poem before. While I have been clearing out drawers in the study I have come across letters and cards from 1st OH, over 40 years ago some of them.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Three of the chucks have now been outside to explore but they all scarpered indoors just now when I went to check - just going to say hello every now and again so they get used to my voice and presence. The dogs have now clocked that we have chucks so galloped down ahead of me - new lease of life for 13yr old Rasta who is fascinated - but the chucks, quite rightly, are suspicious of anything new. Just wait till the cats realise they're there!
Slab of belly pork in to roast slowly in cider, chocolate carrot cake baked and cooling for tomorrow's Patchwork AGM. I need to make some new masks to go with autumn clothes and then walkies before dinner. Busy day.
Sorry about your family absences @Lizzie. I think Covid restrictions are going to be with us all for a while and we just need to get on with it and be flexible.
Quite agree @Dovefromabove - good to know where you've come from but better still to see where you and yours can go.

Morning, Gosh it's gone cold and miserable out there this weekend. 🙄 Managed to find time to cut some stuff back, going to try and top up the beds with new compost this week and then get some bulbs in my new beds. I'm really hoping this year's bulbs come back ok in the terrace bed, they were beautiful, but no one except me saw them because of confinement. Have a good day all.
P.S. I wasn't allowed to post this morning because I was unauthorised - not sure why/what - anyway good afternoon all. 😁

Well, it's lovely here now tho clear signs of there having been strong winds in the lanes with fallen trees and branches. Got hom eto find 5 of th ehens outside and pecking away at their pile of green beans and carrot tops and over-ripe cucumber. Good.
Was originally expecting to take Possum back to Namur on Thursday but she's agreed to stay on for longer which is good. Given the limited selection available here I shall make time to buy bulbs in Belgium when we do go. I want to continue the white, purple and yellow theme in the new bed and that includes white daffs which I haven't seen here yet. and then I have another bed with a cream and deep red them and then the multi-coloured roses beds.
Dinner is starting to smell enticing. Bon appétit everyone.

I have music, book, yesterdays paper and chocolate biscuits, what more does a man need.
Tea Just catching up with all the posts here. I got back just after two, but I've been pottering outside as it's a shame to miss the last day of the frosty/sunny weather. I now feel my world is getting near normal after being out on the wee hill. My heart was singing @chicky Met a nice chap at the summit, and a really lovely girl who had passed me earlier, and I walked back down with her. A credit to her family, and her generation, who are being much maligned just now. She's studying history at Glasgow, but she's from Colorado, but the family now living in Aberdeen. Couldn't have had a better day, despite the usual plonkers on the Loch Lomond road. I'd even missed those I'd quite like to be a wangler of something. Could I make it up? Meltdowns are fine now and again @Obelixx. I think quite a few people are having meltdowns - regardless of age and stage. Dave appeared for some food just after I got home. Some bandit's had a wee go at him and he has a sore face. We sat and enjoyed the late sun, and listened to Johnnie Walker. Perfect
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Gave the garden a miss today - bit of a lie in and then a hike with daughter No.1. Glorious up on the tops in the standard shorts and T-shirt.
Back home in time for a hobby-related Zoom meeting and bit of the football. On the verge of going dark now so fingers crossed the next couple of days are dry. The last bit of painting (Phase 1) needs doing and starting Phase 2 might be an option before winter sets in. Mowing the front lawn wouldn't be a bad idea either.
So pleased your heart sang @Fairygirl .... let’s see what noises the rest of you makes tomorrow after the extra exertions 🤣
Just back from our lowland trot. Tried out a new route - very pretty with some gignormous old houses. There must have been a lot of lords of the manor round there.
Now it’s time for some sewing and a phone chinwag with littlest Chicklet 📞
I take it you've been authorised now @D0rdogne_Damsel @chicky - the thighs were fine when I was out, so I'm hoping there won't be too much groaning, oohing or ahhing tomorrow Love the fungi pic The hens seem to be making themselves well at home @Obelixx. Odd that you've not seen pale daffs yet. Probably the right decision re Possum @Lizzie27 - the Snowdon situation is arising again because of their impending lockdown re travel. People are so stupid though. The carparks at Arrochar/Succoth today were rammed because, like Snowdon, people make a beeline for honeypot hills which have easy paths. Can't think of anything worse than being surrounded by hordes of folk when there are loads of other hills to choose from. It's a local, Glasgow holiday here this weekend, so it was always going to be busy too, especially with the weather.

Well, I actually made an apple and blackberry tart - can't remember when I last made pastry, usually stick to crumble which I make a big batch off and stick in the freezer. We don't often have puds as we're always weight watching - especially now back from holiday! Yesterday however, a friend called round for tea and scones, so I opened some double cream (couldn't get clotted) and that needed eating up. Very nice it was too.

I've just bought more roses that I didn't really need. 😅

Can never have enough roses DD.
Your climb/walks sound good Fairy and Chicky.
