Help identifying acer

    I have Orangeola. It's dark red/purple, then becomes olive green through summer, before turning to oranges etc. It's one of the reasons I bought it. I don't care for the greeny/yellowy ones. 
    As @Silver surfer says - when they start turning depends on your location. They would  normally be turning here by this time of year, but it's been much milder through August this year, so autumn has been a few weeks later than usual in starting, so all trees, of any variety, are not colouring quite so quickly. 
    Definitely better to go and look at them - good garden centre or nursery, and make a decision based on what they look like in autumn. Most people tend to pick based on their autumn colour, and shape. That  includes the foliage itself, not just the overall shape of the tree.
    The one in that pic isn't young.  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....



    I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
