Ideas please - penstemons and other perennials for rich soil?

    I think you want Phlox @Nollie
    ...  I feel they would be ideal for those conditions... if you don't have some already.. I thought you did..?

    'Purple Flame' and 'Mt. Fujiyama'.. in amongst roses [not visible].. flowers are scented by the way..

    That’s great, thanks for your input @Lizzie27, @Fire and @Marlorena, that’s given me a good list of possibles now.

    I had never considered Phlox, for some reason Marlorena and don’t have any, but will investigate. Parahebe Avalanche I have been wanting to get my hands on for ages so good to know that’s got the thumbs up. I like the idea of heucheras more than the reality I see in the municipal plantings around here, they always seem to look a bit ragged and burnt!
