Don't let them go on the ground, they will stay in the soil and pupate over winter ready for next year. Be brave @B3 and put a glove on and take them off Â
I can completely understand the double bagging and the cut leaf/avoiding touching! They are revolting. Important not to let them get into the ground to pupate...
Also watch out for the adult females - bright yellow flies that attach to the stems and excavate a burrow to lay their eggs - I've picked off a lot at this stage as well.
