SdSA is a beautiful rose, blush pink but the overall effect is white (and as Marlorena said, earlier blooms are light pink, later blooms are whiter). I find it hard to photograph because the individual blooms aren't that pretty, it's the character of the rose which makes it beautiful and the way how light reflects from the blooms. It always looks nicer in reality than in my photos. In its first year, September flush: Earlier in the year, in May: Individual blooms:
Winchester Cathedral is a good white with a lovely fragrance. It gets to about 4-5 ft in my garden but is backed by a close-by hedge so is probably stretching for more light. When I first had it, some of the blooms came out pink and some were striped (I think it's parent is Mary Rose) but it seems to have grown out of that now.
arrived in the am, in situ in the pm. From left to right, Ghislaine de Feligonde & Roald Dahl From bottom of pic, Vanessa Bell & Lichfield Angel I managed to stay (almost) true to my planting plan, but decided to change RD to position 9 as colour should complement GdeF well.
Thanks @D0rdogne_Damsel, I have some good 'before' pics which I will post when I have the afters for a true comparison of the changes. It's quite a test to discipline myself to plant these insignificant, twig like things at an appropriate distance apart. The distance between them looks vast on the photos, but I have to have faith in the ultimate spread of each is as stated by DA and stick to my plan.

all ready for Ghislaine de Feligonde next week.
It was your comment early on that convinced me to get on with it...
