Not the best images, but this flowered early in the year and the flower was one left over.
The leaves.

    Comfrey or borage maybe?

  • Don't think that's borage, the stems don't look spiky and the flowers are the wrong shape... Not sure what it is though.

If it helps the seeds were tiny.
Been suggested as Digitalis lutea. Any thoughts?

Leaves in pic 1 are really hairy on the edges.
    Maybe also top surface.
2nd pic ...leaves look very different.

  • Agree with silver surfer. These are 2 different plants.

The second pic reminds me of aged erythronium leaves ...

The leaves in the first picture may be from a thistle behind the true plant. The flower is definitely coming from the base of the stem in the second picture. Very difficult place to get a picture to be honest. It nearly crippled my back getting these.

Sorry need clear pics to show flower.
Not enough to go on at present. Sorry!

    2nd pic..different plant altogether.

Thanks. Will have to wait until next year now. But that flower was definitely on that stem.

I don't think it's Digitalis lutea as it has flowers that are very small. Could it be Digitalis mertonensis?
