cucumbers in greenhouse

Morning all, well so far I'm getting the nack for growing Tomatoes, lots of reading and NPK info, not quite so difficult to understand as I feared,  and next year I'm trying the advised range to include Sungold, I also have room for cucumbers, I'm told to get F1 type and fancy the shorter chunky type but don't have any advise as yet, which would be good, then I will be back for advise on sweet Chillies as I have a bit of room for them I hope and again know almost nothing of how and which, many thanks Avagooden, Alan

I grew Cucino for a couple of years and had fantastic results.
I harvested 294 cucumbers from a single plant.
I couldn't get Cucino seed for the last couple of years so have grown Mini-Munch. Very similar but not as productive. 92 fruits from 1 plant to date.

I grow Passandra in the greenhouse, tasty, thin skinned and if I pick them at about 6-7" they do me a couple of days.  Not sure how many, probably 20-30 in a good season - can't match @Pete.8 on any level  :D

I have to confess I surprised myself.
I got a lot from Cucino the 1st year I grew cucumbers (2017), so in 2018 I kept a tally.
    Beginners luck maybe.
I did read that Miracle Grow is best suited to cucumbers and that what I've always used on them at least once a week, with seaweed extract every couple of weeks.
I also have to confess I'm not a huge fan of cucumbers either.... but the neighbours appreciated them - up to a point.

Damn Pete, my pathetic attempts at growing cukes pale into insignificance compared to your efforts. I only get about 10 per plant so have two sets of plants growing over a season. As soon as the first lot are exhausted I bang in my reserves but even doing this I cant match the quantity you manage.

Where do you get your seed?

I'm not sure where I got the seed @Kili but likely Mr Fothergills or possibly T&M.
Neither have Cucino for sale this year or last year, so I'm hoping they will be on sale again by next season.
I put 1 plant in a 22L pot filled with around 50% well rotted farmyard manure and 50% MPC and just let it clamber up the netting and try and remember to keep the compost moist and well fed

One thing I just can't grow are lettuce tho... only managed to harvest 2 this year, the rest all bolted.

    Wow! That’s impressive Pete.
Having a daughter who adores cucumber, I may have to hunt this Cucino variety done, for next year.
Im curious - do you grow in a greenhouse?
I found that my mini greenhouse was too hot for my mini cucumbers this year, so I stuck them outside, down the side of it instead, where it’s bright but they’re out of direct sun. They seem to be doing much better there.

    Hi @dappledshade
Yes I grow them in my greenhouse which has shading that I leave down for most of the summer.
The mini-greenhouses are great for raising plants but they get way too hot when the summer sun appears as you've found out.

    I haven’t any shading...

Old net curtains would give just the right amount of shade or you can get a whitewash for greenhouse windows that you can scrub off at the end of the season.
My greenhouse gets no natural shade at all and the shading really helps keep the temps down without reducing the amount of light too much

Last few years Marketmore because the old man doesn't like cucumbers, before that Femspot both good yealds..  Last year I grew 3 achocha, OMG over 100 fruit off each plant, would have grown just one plant this year but couldn't find any seeds.  They are great because you can stir fry them as well as in a salad.
