I need lawn advice please
I was about to start renovating my lawn and was going to sart removing thistle by hand then apply lawn sand, scarify after moss etc had died then seed. The thing is the thistle is very dense it's not just the odd bit of thistle here and there and I read that the roots grow laterally and join together and so when you break one off another one will appear anyway.
So can anyone advise would it be better to use a lawn weedkiller (if so can you tell me which product is a good one)if so can I still use the lawn sand(Ferrous sulphate) soon after.
I had my plan of attack organised but now I'm not sure of the routine that I should follow or even if I have the time to do this is the gardening year for lawn care now and the times these things should be done.

Any proprietary lawn weed and feed is suitable, but the ground needs to be damp before applying.
I've never used lawn sand, but if you're using the aforementioned product, you wouldn't really need it.
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Lawn sand is usually used for moss control.
Thanks,I've just ordered a bag of the 4 in 1
I will,I have heard you have to be precise in sprinkling it,to prevent killing the complete lawn.I think I'm going to mark my lawn in metre squares with string and weigh the dose for that area before sprinkling,I hope that works anyway.Front and back lawns aren't large
