Haven't seen any sign of hedgehog this year yet but I leave it to eat slugs etc, if I saw it in the garden I'd give it some wet cat food. There's no bird food on the ground just a shallow water tray.

They are the gardener's mate, so the more you feed them, the less they will clean up your garden of snails, ear-wigs and other wigglies.  It's their delight to forage around for food.

    Interesting article @Lyn Thank you.
My thought also. We don't feed them, we do have other helpers such as slow worms, but slugs are simply not a 'thing' in our garden now. First 5 years before the wildlife garden was really established, we had the usual problem with slugs. Past 10 years, I can grow lettuce in the open on the veg plot, won't be a slug near it.

I've had five years virtually slug free, with lots of hogs, but this year fewer hogs and more slugs, maybe its a coincidence. 😁 Or maybe the frog/toad population is down.🤔
