Hello Cammy - that's a very neat and tidy garden you have there.

There are so many different flowering perennials that we need more help to whittle down suggestions for you. It would help if you could provide the following info:

Is your soil heavy or light, sandy, free draining or somewhere in between.

Does the area(s) you want to plant get much sun? What times of the day?

Which colours do you like and which to avoid.

How keen a gardener are you? How much time to do you want to spend staking or dead heading?

When do you most need an injection of colour?

As a general suggestion for you - primula, hellebore and pulmonaria families are good for part shade in spring along with various bulbs. Hardy geraniums for early - mid summer. Aster family for autumn. All of those offer a good range of colours to choose from and are not too demanding to look after. They will all do well in part shade to a reasonably sunny spot (but not baked).

Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down

Thank you Topbird. When I bought my property 5 years ago, the back garden didn't look very nice. I had some damp issue at the back off my house and I was told the ground level was too high and advised to reduce the level. So I got a landscape gardener to take out the old patio, reduce the ground level around the house, create a border and re-do the lawn. Back then I had no idea about gardening but I have learning a lot since then by reading/looking up plant options online and going to garden centres. I guess you can say I have green fingers now.

I am no expert but I think it's heavy, clay soil but mostly free draining apart from one  corner at the back (Top left hand in pictures) where it tends to retain moisture quite a lot especially in winter however I wouldn't say it's water logged. That corner gets the least amount of sun. Other areas of the garden are sunny to semi-shade.

It's a South facing garden so the border on the right gets the most amount of sun.

As for colours, I think I like all colours. I think I currently have white, pink, red, yellow, blue and purple flowering palnts. I would like the garden to have various colours throught the year and I think I have mostly achieved that.

I think currenlty my back garden is most colourful from Spring to early Summer (probably March - May). So it would nice to have a bit more colour in Summer and Autumn months.

I have a few gaps on both sides of the garden and also in the corner where it doesn't get a lot of sun.

I actually have a couple of Primulas, a Geranium and one of the Asters in that corner! They seem to be doing OK even with little sun. I also have a few hellebores planted on both sides, close the patio.

I can look at getting more of these.

It would be good to hae a few more plant options to choose from.

    Thanks all.
