We have two plastic domes with the bird feeders hanging underneath from a tree branch. Had them for years and they work very well. Loads of squirrels in the garden, and in the spring, the very occasional baby squirrel will have a go. Once it lands on the top of the dome, it slides off. Mostly it seems as if they have all learned that it’s a waste of time, as we hardly ever see a squirrel even trying to get to the feeders.
The jackdaws are another story! They eat a lot of buggy bits, but I don’t want to discourage the woodpeckers!
This is the sort we have, got ours from a local garden centre, but several places on line have them.

    Around £19 I think.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

I 've seen them, but I can't bring myself to pay that price that costs less than 1p to manufacture.
    In London. Keen but lazy.
