Do squirrel proof bird feeders Work

Ive got a family of grey squirrels that keep eating all the nuts in my bird feeders, they spend most of the day hanging on the and my birds sit back. I don't want to spend money on feeders like the one below if they don't work.

The one we have certainly works .. it's not quite the same as the picture . However we saw squirrels frequently on the feeders all day . Since the squirrel proof feeder we had a couple of squirrels really try and get in initially but nothing has managed to get to them in the year or so that we've had them. Hope this helps.

We have something similar, and it works for us!

Make sure you get a sturdy feeder, I had a cheap temporary replacement that was more temporary than intended  :s

We have the springy ones. They work well as long as there are no nearby branches on which the squirrels can hang from to reach the feeder.

Gardman works especially if you add my improvement. Keeps parakeets and magpies off too.
    In London. Keen but lazy.

This baffle that we have on the pole certainly works

We had squirrel-proof feeders in our garden in west Yorks, like yours in the first post, @Voyagerxp, and they worked brilliantly almost all the time.  One year we had a baby squirrel small enough to squeeze through the outer cage... until it ate too much and got stuck half way out.  Went out wearing my leather pruning gloves to rescue it, and it bit my finger through my glove, the ungrateful so-and-so!  After that we bought a baffle for the pole (ours was like an upturned mixing bowl) which foiled all attempts.  :)

    We've got this one

It works. We've had it a few years. The squirrels shows a lot of interest to start with, but soon gave up. Every now and then one will have another go, but they've never had any success. Ours was a gift, so I don't know where it was purchased from.

I've got ones with spring loaded stainless steel hatches which slide down and over the feeding holes when anything heavier than a small bird lands on it. We've had them for over three years now and they are pretty nearly foolproof. They are expensive though at £24.99 each but worth their weight in saved bird food.
