I can't identify them

alias123alias123 Posts: 40
Hi. I wonder if someone would kindly help. I cleared several areas of my garden late last year and now several plants  have appeared and I can't identify them. The first grows with all the blades (6 inches long) in a line. The second grows from one spot but has stem that travel approx 18 inches. The third has 6 yellow flowers which close at approx 6pm. Thank you so much for your time.:)

The first and third look like iris (3rd could be flag iris, is it in damp soil ?), and the second possibly Vinca.

    The bottom one is Sisyrinchium.

Thank you so much. Still struggling with the first (the plant is completely flat from the side if that rings any bells?:)) but your information has led me to find out that the second is Vinca Major and the third is Sisyrinchium Californicum.
I've just taken cuttings of the Vinca because they'll be useful under some trees. Thanks again. Take care :)

Flowers on 1 and 3 would really help.

    2.  I suspect Vinca minor is a better fit.

Vinca major at top. Vinca minor below.
Vinca major ....leaf margin has fine hairs.

Flowers below......Left Vinca minor. Left Vinca major.

If you bury part of the Vincas trailing stems they'll root very easily and you can then just snip them off from the mother plant after a few weeks.  Saves having to pamper cuttings but those should also root easily anyway.  I also think the 1st is an iris.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

Hello. Thank you everyone for all your helpful replies :)
Thank you Silver surfer. Yes from the leaves it's definitely Vinca minor. There aren't any flowers yet but I'll post when I have news. I don't have a photo of the flowers of the Sisyrinchium Californicum and it's raining now but they match those on websites:).
Thanks Bob - I'll try that method too and keep searching while waiting for flowers from the suspected lily :)
Would it be ok with everyone for me to post more photos for identification please? I don't want to overstep my welcome :)))

Fairy toothbrushes!!  In the middle of those purple flowers is a fairy's toothbrush.  You gently peel the four petals back to reveal!  Kids stuff like dandelion clocks and blowing through blades of grass between thumbs to signal friends!
A good hoeing is worth two waterings.
