  • Six months ago I bought a Burgon and Ball stonebreaker spade (live next to a gravel works so you can imagine the soil) and I love it. The pointed end really helps get down into the ground. By chance I discovered it's also rather good for lifting turf. I've also got Spear and Jackson traditional wooden handled stainless steel forks and spades which I've used for 15 years and been very happy with.
