Call a spade a spade...

I need a new spade, any brands I should go for or avoid?

My ten year old Spear and Jackson snapped in half!

I have a Bulldog with an extra long handle, I'm happy with it but the oh says it's too heavy. I'd recommend the long handle whatever make, they are a real back saver

What you need is a Cornish shovel Steve.

I came across Krumpholz tools the other day, possibly a poor man’s Sneeboer. They look interesting

We have fiskars (the all metal line not the wooden handled ones) the spades seem really bullet proof, but don't go for the fork I snapped one in half going after a burdock.

I must have had my forks and spades for over 40 years.
I had a large and small of each but have now passed the larger ones on to my daughter as I can manage with the smaller ones.
I think Spear and Jackson and Wilkinson were the names but so long ago I'm not sure.
    All have the original handles.

My partner has a S&J "neverbend" set, the fork of which she promptly bent two tines! On the plus side, S&J are in the process of replacing said fork
