Should my Geranium Rozanne be flowering by now?

I bought two small Rozannes late last year (they came in 9cm pots). To my surprise, they both flowered last year even though they were so small and I only received them in September. This year, although both plants have grown a little bit, they haven't flowered yet and don't even have any flower buds so they don't look like they're going to flower any time soon. Should I be worried or am I being too impatient? One is planted in a bed where it gets morning sun but none after about 1 or 2 pm and the other plant is in a bed where it only gets afternoon sun. I have given both plants a general purpose liquid fertiliser now and then. I'm based in the North East of England if that makes a difference to bloom times. I should add that I have other hardy geraniums (Pratense, Sanguineum and Wargrave Pink) that are flowering; some of them have been for weeks.

My Rozanne is only just beginning to flower whereas the divisions I gave to the In-laws have been flowering a good fortnight already.

Their garden is in sun all day whereas mine are in a patch that doesn’t get sun until around midday.

    Hope that helps 😊

  • Mine are also just starting to flower, with sun until mid afternoon.

Mine isn't flowering yet, in a south-facing bed (but partially shaded by taller plants), in North Wales. But looks like it will soon.

I love Geranium Rozanne! I moved house last winter and took one with me. Then I split it into two and now both of them are flowering. It definitely prefers a sunnier position so if yours is not that sunny, it might delay the flower. But no worries. Very soon, it will bloom.

Thanks everyone. It might just be the position. I'll have to be a bit more patient!

Mine was bushing our nicely and then got a chelsea chop from some hungry deer the other night.  Will have to wait a bit longer for some flowers

Just starting to see the petals barely appear on a potted one I have. It's further on than the one in the ground although it was only planted later last year.

I have several, some in pots, some in borders, some sunnier than others. The most advanced are only just beginning to flower, and some are a fair way off. Patience, I'm sure they'll flower shortly if they did last year, and have already put on growth.
