What bit me?

B3B3 Posts: 27,505
I was deadheading some roses yesterday when something bit me. It looked a bit like a tiny silverfish only it was a darker colour. It may have been eating leaves as it left a greeny brown streak on my  skin when i squashed it. it must have been holding on tight  as it didn't flick off easily. But i have an itchy spot where it was so it may have been after my blood👹is
Does anyone know what it was?

It's just the dreaded rose bush protector dragon!  A smidge of Tiger Balm and the itchy will be relieved!!

Maybe a flowerbug? They pack quite a nip for a titchy beast and the bite can be itchy.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

It had no wings, no spots no legs I could see. I have since posting found that you can get silverfish in the garden and they can bite.

    Silverfish

Silverfish (Lepisma saccharina) are 1/2 to 3/4-inch long, silver segmented nocturnal household pests that often spend time in the garden. While they do not normally feed on living plants, they may eat dead insects or fungi. Silverfish are often attracted to the wet conditions found in irrigated garden areas, as well as under bark, rocks and other debris. Control is generally aimed at preventing silverfish from infesting nearby homes. Silverfish in gardens are not considered to be problem insects, otherwise.

I didn't think i was that good at watering my roses!

Just a bit but I'll survive. At least it wasn't a tic.
They probably nibble away at you, but you don't react. Lucky b*****r😉

Nature tries hard to put us off gardening or interfering as she sees it. So far I have had 6 tic bites and a nasty chigger attack which is a new record for me this early in the year.

Keep an eye on the tic bites. I had lymes disease once from a tic bite ( bullseye rash). I was really lucky that it was caught early.
