I use stout clematis netting. I stand the 22L pot on the bottom of the net then tie it up and across the eaves. The tendrils cling on well, but do tie the plant to it too as they can get heavy. I used canes the first year I grew them, once the fruit started to set, the weight caused the whole plant to slide down the cane, the stem was crushed at the base and it was game over
Every day brings something new!! Tendrils now appearing - do I just allow them latch onto support themselves? I sound a real numpty I know but am determined to try and at least get one cucumber! Another question on here relating to tomatoes as know you guys will be experts on these too. The new leaves on one of the branches on one of my plants are remaining all curled up and not opening up. Do you know what the reason for this could be? Thanks.
The tendrils reach out and when they touch something they try and twine around it. I try and guide them in the right direction and feed the tendril into the mesh then they usually wrap themselves around it. I also tie the stems in to the mesh here and there to give extra support when the fruits form. The curly tomato leaf is probably just reacting to temperature. It's been a bit chilly recently, but that is set to change next week. If you post a pic we can take a look.

Thanks for info re cucumbers. I think I may have tiny ones starting to grow. I have looked at the tomato plant again and it seems that the actual stem has twisted round on itself and as if it has cut off the 'circulation' to the leaves as they feel bit wilted. Not sure if you can see properly on the photo. Should I cut the stem off or just leave alone?
I'd leave alone. Tomato plants do all sorts of weird things throughout the course of the season. I've already got new plant shoots growing on the ends of some trusses of fruit.. If the leaf goes yellow then you may as well cut it off. Pleased you have some baby cucumbers on the way
