Outdoor taps

I have just bought a Gruntek expandable garden hose but the connectors don't fit my tap.  I think my only alternative is to replace my outdoor tap but can't find one with a short stub with thread.  Any help out there please?

Hi and welcome to the forum
Not quite sure I understand what the problem is, but I use these for fitting a hose to an outdoor tap. They come with both 3/4" and 1/2" fittings

Plenty of options here if you do need to replace your tap.

OR - post a pic of your tap and see if anyone here has suggestions

Just unscrew the stubby connector on the end of the tap. You'll be left with a thread onto which you can screw a male connector (see the LH image of connectors). You then need a female connector on the end of your hose.

I had that problem when I had my garden tap installed and for the life of me, couldn't work out how to get a hose to attach to it (I made do with a connector with an adjustable metal band). I had some people round to do some work (I don't recall what) and they used the tap. It turns out that the nozzle bit on it screws on, they took it off and it's just a standard threaded tap. So relieved to be able to use it properly! I think those nozzles are pretty tightly screwed on so it may take a bit of elbow grease to remove it.

Thanks Topbird.  I tried that but the problem the brass tube at the base does not fit into the connector and if it did the thread on the actual tap is much larger than the connector.

Thanks Pete.  I have looked on Amazon and can't find a 1/2" tap to fit to the connector.

Just give the brass tube a little knock and it will come free. Then you will be able to fit the right adaptor.
