I believe that it keeps my plants healthier and stronger.
So is that placebo or religion?
I also belong to the church of seaweed. I regularly dowse my plants in it, even stuff that are recommend not to fertilise, like ferns and clematis in bud/flower.
There's certainly some evidence that it helps plants but not as a fertiliser as such - although I've just found a site that claims its npk value is 1.9, 0.25, 3.68 (most proprietary brands claim anything  from 0-1 for n,p and k) so maybe I'll resist spraying my clems while they're in flower!
There are all kinds of different seaweed extracts. The one I am using, Doff, does indeed colour my water very very dark however I have moved on to the placebo group.

Been comparing with and without seaweed and I can honestly say I have no difference in growth - however I use a complete nutrient feed that has taken a while to find so if I was feeding a rubbish feed I am sure seaweed would achieve better results.

I bought some Doff seaweed feed as I couldn’t get my usual maxi crop, I was surprised that it was such a pale colour. When I mix it to the required strength it looks like tap water. I wonder if I’ve been sold a fake?☹️

I've got a bottle of the doff too. It sounds like someone's very helpfully already diluted yours, so homeopathically that means the strength is drastically increased

Bright Star , the seaweed that I am using is Doff very pale mix , maybe I should double the dosage?

Don't forget the Doff ratio is only 30ml per 10 litres,  it's not gonna have much colour if you think about it. Watering cans tend to be opaque so I've never really looked, but this is my conc. stuff

This is my Doff, on the container it says with seaweed and magnesium concentrate.
15 mls per 4.5 litres of water.

  • I thought the exact same thing when i saw the water coming from Monty's watering canahaha. I think it must depend on the brand and if he is indeed making it himself. I would recommend to ALWAYS follow the instruction on your branded seaweed bottle, because a more concentrate watering of seaweed will do more harm than good...
