    Ok I have the 40 litre one so will use that. If it's raining the foliage will get wet though :(

    Rain water generally does a lot less damage but once your plants bulk out don’t rely on rain as it will just bounce off the leaves, generally the soil can stay amazingly dry even after heavy rain. Watering at the stem will always help with the mildew regardless of whether you are watering using recuperated rain or mains water. If you are in a hard water area watch out for calcium, I’ve found delphiniums are really not keen on too much.
