Don't get me wrong, the hits have been great, I still have some going now.

But the misses have been terrible, some no flowers at all.

I usually buy tulips, allium and daffs: nothing too tricky

I've found B&Q bulbs to be good too. My only bulb "miss" in recent years has been Thalia daffodils from a supermarket the turned out to be Minnow (or something very similar). Quality was fine though.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

Best bulbs I've ever got are usually from Anglia Bulbs , I've been using farmer gracy recently which have also been very good. I find Peter nyssen can be hit and miss sometimes over all though good quality.

I love my alliums one of my favourites , 2ft alliums - Christophii are excellent and cheap but schubertii is a once season bulbs it normally dies off after flowering once.  Pinball Wizard are 2ft , you can get small ones like ivory queen but I am not so keen one the small ones , Purple rain excellent but the best in my opinion is Globemaster which is about 3ft tall.

Regarding the hits and misses, here's what I mean.

The last photo has Queen of Night and Jimmy but there were wildly different results.
