I absolutely love cats, but not what they do and leave in my veggi plot, so am going to get myself a python, incidentally, my nickname from the old man is The Viper!!  Maybe I will just go and lie among the veggies

Hi folks,  Don't like the idea of snakes in the garden I'm terrified of them can't even stand to see a photo of one.  Just the thought of them makes me shudder.
Hope the carpet dries out OK Rubee
Love mattress toppers I have a mattress that has a built in layer on the top and it's made a massive difference to my aches and pains.  Secondborn's spare bed is horrendous, it's like sleeping on a plank of wood.  I've decided not to stay over again until she gets a topper as I can hardly move the next day.  I'd rather drive back and forth when I'm looking after Jonah and Gabriel.  I'm missing them so much, It's Gabriels 2nd Birthday June 20th hope I can get a cuddle by then.

Yviestevie, my Bestie is exactly like you. We cannot even use the word 's' in her presence. When we were teaching I used to have to interleave text books where snakes were pictured with file paper otherwise she would have just freaked out. Luckily animal classification did not cover much of the curriculum. My Chemistry teacher was also an ophidiophobe but he wasn't as bad as my Bestie.

A few years ago I was emptying the grass collector into one of the compost bins (they're at the very bottom of the garden, backing onto the field) I lifted the lid to find a snake curled up onto of the cuttings in there. I remember putting the lid back on quick, dropping the other grass cutting and ran back up the garden 🤣🤣 don't think I've run as fast as that ever 🤣🤣

There are whole sections of movies I have never seen because of this phobia.  Indianna Jones and Harry Potter spring to mind.  I can't watch lots of nature programmes just in case and I remember having to pull into a layby shaking because the Sky van in front of me had a huge one painted on the back doors. Years ago First and Secondborn thought it would be funny (egged on by my MIL) to put a rubber one in my bed.  We were in Cyprus at the time and it took me about 10 mins to stop screaming I'm suprised someone didn't phone the police.  I know it's irrational but I just can't help it.

I'm the same when it comes to rats Yvie. But that's what a phobia is about. It is totally irrational and reactions are instinctive - not thought through.

Remember driving on my own (so no one to impress or otherwise!) when a rat ran out from a field and under the wheels of the car. Felt the bounce and then heard a dull thud as the poor creature was thrown against the underside of the car. I shrieked (very loudly) and instinctively pulled my feet onto the seat and swerved the wheel of the car to get away from it.

Fortunately there was no one else on the road because, for a few seconds, I had absolutely no control over the vehicle whatsoever and ended up on the wrong side of the road.

My brother has the snake phobia. He used to chase me with dead rats. I used to put rubber snakes in his bed. It's amazing we still talk to one another.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down

Funny old things, phobias. I don't have any. I am not keen on clowns or scarecrows but they don't freak me out.
T'Bird, that could have been very nasty indeed. Phew!
