Hydrangea paniculata springs to mind, but maybe viburnum. Confused.
    Devon.

I hope it's a hydrangea. Don't remember buying either. But I have a habit of buying small perennials to grow on. They jump into my trolley. Will ask again when it gets bigger. Thanks @Hostafan1

    Forsythia? Or Philadelphus?
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

I definitely wouldn't have bought forsythia! Philadephus is another one to consider😊

Me too, the rather straggly growth habit looks about right.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
